Yesterday I was in a need to change the localhost to my custom name in order to work locally. I decided to write a blog on this. Below is the screen shot of how I was working before with my localhost. My target was to change the host address.
Let's open the "hosts" file . For me it was at "C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc" path.
You can also navigate there via "%WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\" command in Run prompt.
Just right click the "hosts" file and click "Open".
Select the "Notepad" as the program to open that file.
In this file at the bottom you will see some thing like this: "127.0.0.1 localhost".
I decided to have my own name say "raghav.com" so I added that name after the localhost.
That's it we are done with it. Now you can open the locahost with your own name. For me it was http://raghav.com
Do let me know your feedback, comments.
