Removing SSL bindings from a website in IIS is not easy. Instead of using GUI to remove an SSL binding for a particular site, you will need to use either appcmd or edit the applicationhost.config with notepad. Here is the syntax for appcmd, but first you will need to change the directory to C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv
- open cmd- cd C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv (enter)- appcmd set site /site.name:"YOURWEBSITE.COM" /-bindings.[protocol='https',bindingInformation='*:443:YOURWEBSITE.COM']
Please note, the "YOURWEBSITE.COM" would be replaced by the site name in IIS.
Always make sure that you create a backup of your IIS config, and if you run into any problems perform the following to restore your IIS settings:
- open cmd- cd C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv (enter)- appcmd.exe restore backup "IIS Backup"
